This version for Windows (NT/2000/XP/2003) can read words from any application, anywhere on your screen. Note that clicking on words in special fonts and languages may not always produce the expected result. After installation, activation can be done by right-clicking your mouse on a word while holding the "Ctrl" key.

Firefox Extension

This version can be used to activate WordWiseLookup within Firefox. It handles all fonts and languages. Once installed you can activate it by holding the "Ctrl" key and double click with your left mouse button on the word you want to look up.
